AeroVironment is getting ready to deliver its Puma unmanned aircraft system to a US ally. It has been awarded a contract in the amount of $8.5m for the drone. You can read on for more information about this drone. This article will also be about the Puma AE and RQ-20 AE. This article will also cover the Switchblade 300 loitering munition. This article will be updated as more details become available.

Puma LE

The US Air Force operates the Puma AE (All Environment) small unmanned aircraft system in Afghanistan. This drone can be used to provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services in all kinds of environments. Its robust design also makes it highly efficient in high-altitude environments. It can be used to perform search and rescue, drug interdiction and maritime patrol missions. This drone will be available in spring 2020.

The Puma LE is 23.5 pounds in weight and can carry a payload of 5.5 pounds. It comes with an Ethernet connection and an EO/IR sensor suite. It can be hand-launched, or launched using a bungee. It has a 5.5-hour endurance and 60-kilometer operational range. AeroVironment's Long-Range Tracking Antenna can allow the Puma LE up to 60 kilometers.

Puma 3 AE

The Puma 3AE drone is small and unmanned. It has a high-mounted main unit and a traditional single fin tail unit. One person can control it in the field, and another operator at a station on the ground. The aircraft is capable of deep stall landings and automatic recovery from a crash or deep stall. It is equipped a Mantis-i45 sensor suite. This includes a 50x dual 15 megapixel electrooptical camera, an 1.2MP low light camera, and thermal imaging systems that are 640x512p.

The Puma 3AE drone can perform both land and sea operations. It weighs in at just 15 lbs and has a wingspan 9.2 feet. It can operate for 2.5hrs and land in the water providing high-resolution imaging. The Puma 3 AE drone is equipped with a Mantis i45 AE gimbal that features 50x zoom and IR capabilities. The sensor suite offers enhanced imaging capabilities, extended flight times, and GCS all in one case.

RQ-20AE

The RQ-20 AE ISR Workhorse is a light, rugged hand-launched ISR machine that carries an electrooptical camera, infrared imaging sensors, and IR illuminator. Its payload is engineered to provide exceptional performance in harsh environments. Moreover, its Precision Navigation System (PNS) and secondary GPS allow it to fly more precisely and reliably. This unmanned aircraft is controlled remotely using a battle-proven Ground Control Station (GCS) and can be operated manually or autonomously with GPS.

The RQ-20 AE offers a range of 12 miles and a flight duration of just three hours. It has a nine-foot wingspan and weighs fourteen lbs. In April 2022, the United States plans to send some of these drones into Ukraine. These drones can be used to evaluate threat levels in Ukraine and determine enemy strength. The RQ-20 also has ISR capabilities, including Scout Surveil mission (ethical threat assessment), target scouting, and Scout Surveil mission.

Switchblade 300 is a loitering munition

The Switchblade 300 anti-drone weapon can be used both by special operations forces as well as conventional forces. It's unique wave-off function makes it an excellent loitering munition. The Switchblade has a range about ten km and a maximum speed at 160 km/h. It can reach a target in six minutes. One Switchblade 300 may be deployed from an aircraft or motor vehicle.
