Drones are a way to combat ISIS

The United States, Russia and other countries all want more modern aircraft. However, Ukraine doesn't have the same resources as the United States to train its soldiers to fly these aircraft. While the Ukrainians do have training on aircraft and vehicles in Western countries like Germany, they are not able to get the same training on drones in Ukraine. Drones are more accessible to Ukrainians who are used to older equipment such as trucks. In addition, drones do not require "pilots," making them easy for soldiers to use. Drones are also easy to use, similar to those in video games.

Aerorozvidka

Ukrainian military employs a unique method to fight ISIS in eastern Ukraine. They use octocopters that are equipped with thermal cameras for nighttime operations. Some drones can be fitted with antitank weapons and can even light up columns. These drones are highly maneuverable, and can carry as much 11 lbs payload. They are small enough to fly low above targets and drop munitions.

Aerorozvidka began as an IT enthusiast group. It has since evolved into a military air reconnaissance unit. Aerorozvidka began as a civilian drone company. However, the organization grew to become a fully fledged unit with its own head. Because of export control, the Ukrainian government prevented Russian military planes from entering the country. Aerorozvidka relies upon crowdfunding and donations to maintain its existence since many of its components are manufactured in the US.

Switchblade

The U.S. military supplies Ukraine with "Switchblade", armed drones that can strike Russian tanks far away. These unmanned aerial vehicles were developed by the US Air Force in response to Ukrainian requirements. John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesperson, stated that more than 120 of these machines are currently being sent to Ukraine. There is not yet any information about how the Switchblades are used in the conflict with Ukraine.

The Switchblade is a small drone with a 40-kilometer range. It can be launched from a tube. The Switchblade can hit Russian convoys from 6 miles away, unlike Bayraktar drones. In a conflict like Ukraine, these small aircraft can be set up in minutes. The Switchblade has a much higher speed than the Bayraktar, the current U.S. allies.

Russian kamikaze drones

The US announced recently that they would be providing $800 million of military aid to Ukraine. One part of that package includes the delivery to Ukraine of 121 unmanned aircraft known as "Phoenix Ghosts," which will terrorize Russian forces. These aircraft, which are designed to fly over areas for thirty to forty minutes, are equipped with warheads and cameras. The Switchblade is a hovering munition weighing 5.5 pounds that can destroy tanks and armored vehicles.

These small, light aircrafts come equipped with a powerful, low flight gimbal which allows them to operate from either air, ground, or water. Any advantage that an opponent has in the air battle is crucial in a conflict such as this. The Russian kamikaze drones are a direct threat. This capability will be crucial to Ukraine's army, as it can break Russian sieges or attack command-and control nodes. This capability would be a big liability for both parties, but Ukraine could emerge victorious if a small drone makes a difference on battlefield.

U.S. loitering Drones

Russia is now integrating ZALA KYB lotering munitions in its military arsenal. These drones can be used in the same way as bazookas to carry out lethal loitering operations. This could lead to the proliferation these autonomous killing machines on black markets. This is something observers and pundits are concerned about. So what can the U.S. Do to prevent this?

Kirby says that more than 121 Switchblade drones have been sent by the U.S. to Ukraine to assist Kiev in fighting Russian forces. The Switchblade drone measures 5.5lbs and can hover above an area for anywhere from thirty to forty minute. It has a camera and small warhead. Its purpose is to destroy the opposition forces in Ukraine.
