If you're looking to get involved in the field of aerial mapping, a drone may be the ideal tool. Despite the abundance of options on the market, the Yuneec H520 is the most popular drone for mapping. Its high speed and interchangeable lenses make it a popular choice among hobbyists. Although it has so many benefits, the DJI Mavic Pro might not be the right choice for most map enthusiasts.

Yuneec H520

The Yuneec Y520 mapping drone will revolutionize the mapping sector. The H520 is capable of both 2D and 3D mapping, and can cover large areas quickly. The H520 is equipped with a dual lens CGO-ET camera that can overlay infrared imaging over regular images. The H520's livestreaming capability will enable multiple users to view the same thing simultaneously.

DJI Matrice 300 series

DJI Matrice 300 series mapping aircrafts are for professionals and enterprises who require accurate aerial data to support business operations. This high-end enterprise aircraft has an integrated Zenmuse P1 photogrammetry camera and is one of the most advanced mapping drones on the market. The advanced dual control and flight capability of the Matrice 300 RTK enable multiple operators to switch control safely and securely in flight. How To

How to Fly Drones for Beginners

A drone is a remote-controlled aircraft used for aerial photography, cinematography, surveillance, scientific research, and hobby purposes. Drone technology has been around since World War II. DJI introduced their Phantom series of quadcopters in 2010, but commercial use only began in 2010. Since then, there have been many different types of drones available, from beginner-friendly models like the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 to professional-grade multi-rotor craft like the DJI Mavic Pro.

You can fly a drone in many different ways, including:

  1. Remote control – This is when you attach a device to your hand that allows you to control the drone's flight path. There are two main types, On/Off switches (like radios) and joysticks.
  2. Manual Control – This allows remote operation of the drone via GPS coordinates using a smartphone application. You will need to keep track of where the drone is going and follow the directions from the app.
  3. Autonomous Flying - This allows the drone to take over all of the piloting duties. It is basically flying autonomously and without human intervention. It must have a builtin camera, sensors capable of taking images and data to enable autonomous flight.
  4. Triggered Flight: This is similar in concept to manual control. The pilot manually creates a route and the drone then follows it until it reaches that endpoint. Once the programmed route has been completed, the drone returns to the base automatically.
  5. Landing Gear- Some drones include landing gear that allows for safe landing if the power goes out or they run out of batteries.
  6. Goggles-Some pilots use goggles to protect their eyes from debris during operations.
  7. Camera - You can capture photos and videos with your drone from the air.
  8. Obstacles: Some drones are equipped with obstacle avoidance systems to prevent them from hitting obstacles.
  9. Speed - Drones can reach speeds up to 40 mph.
  10. Battery Life: Most drones have a battery life of between 20 and 30 minutes depending on how many power sources you use.
  11. Some drones have a range of up to 30 miles, depending on their model.
  12. Power source - Some drones need an external power source, while others use internal batteries.
  13. Weight - Some drones have a weight of less than 1 pound and others weigh 4 lbs.
  14. Size - Drones come in many sizes, from small gadgets that fit in one's hands to large craft that weigh more than 50 lbs.
  15. Price - From high-end models that cost thousands of dollars to low-cost options that start at $100, all drones fall under a certain price category.
